KatFS Pre-Alpha v0.1.2 is out!


Hello everyone! It's update day!

The pre-alpha 0.1.2 version brings improved AI for all the non-boss enemies in the game, specially the skeletons. Not only does it add more variety and challenge to the mob fights already in the demo, it'll also provide a better foundation for future enemy types with much more distinct behaviors. You can read more about it in some detail in my previous devlog here, otherwise onto the update notes:

Improved AI:

  • Enemies of different categories can now fight each other under certain conditions
  • Zombies were made slightly less aware of their surroundings, and they will also lose track of the player more easily
  • Zombies will now be alerted by other zombies becoming alerted
  • Some zombies will roam around
  • Most skeletons will now travel and fight in a group
  • Most skeletons will patrol the areas they start in
  • Melee skeletons in a group will attempt to surround the player
  • Wizard skeletons' attacks are slightly easier to avoid now
  • Blue slimes will become faster while burning

Damage Particles

  • Added particle effects that drop when certain objects and mobs are damaged

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed most instances of cases where Kalia would stop responding to most inputs. This happened when two different inputs occurred in the same frame, leading to certain flags not getting cleaned up properly and blocking future inputs. Please let me know if you still run into cases like this.
